Lightened Power Steering

Available on most vehicles. For drivers with reduced strength allowing them to drive with ease.

Features

We will fit a hoist to most vehicles.

Giving you freedom

Wheelchairs and scooters give people with limited mobility the chance to get moving in and around the home. But if you want to travel further afield, installing a hoist in your vehicle will allow you to take your mobility device with you, without necessarily having to change your car.

To suit your needs

Here at Brook Miller Mobility we offer a wide range of quality stowage solutions for your specific needs. We fit the full range of boot hoists provided by 2 of the market leading brands; Autochair and Brig-Ayd. The Brig-Ayd hoists are suitable for scooters and wheelchairs weighing between 40kg and 150kg. For heavier scooters Autochair have a Smart Lifter that can lift up to 200kg.

A bespoke service

The hoist is fitted within the boot of your vehicle and is suitable for a wide range of makes and models of cars – just as long as the boot opening is sufficient to fit the scooter inside. If you have any questions about the suitability of a boot hoist for your vehicle, please contact us.

Flexability

Your car does not need to be brand new to have a boot hoist fitted or purchased through Brook Miller Mobility. If you have a boot hoist fitted and you purchase a new car, in most cases we can transfer the hoist into the new vehicle.

Mechanical

Power steering can be lightened on most vehicles and is even a factory option for some models. By removing the steering rack and adjusting it either electronically or mechanically, the effort required to turn the wheel can be reduced by varying amounts. From making the steering slightly lighter all the way to ultra-light, this adaption means someone with severely reduced strength can still drive safely. This adaption is irreversible unless an entire new steering rack is fitted so it's important to have an assessment by a suitably qualified installer to ensure the level of strength required to turn the wheel is right for you. It's also important to remember that once lightened, the steering will feel normal to you but very light to another driver and may not be suitable for everyone.

Indicator Extensions

Suitable for left or right handed use, the Bekker Indicator extension is a simple yet effective design. The indicator extension consists of a metal rod formed to extend the function of the indicator lever across to the opposite side of the steering wheel, therefore releasing your hand that would normally be used to trigger the indicator lever. The indicator needs no modification to the standard indicator stalk as it simply bolts to it. This means that there are no permanent alterations to the vehicle.

Foot Steer

We are proud to offer our foot steering solution which has transformed the lives of many customers. Availible for most vehicles, comprising a custom moulded foot plate, this system allows a driver to steer the vehicle safetly in complete control. Most customers will opt for additonal buttons placed in the footwell to control other functions such as indicators and horn. The foot steering system still allows for someone to drive the vehicle using the original steering wheel.
